History of Char Dham Yatra
The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand was established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century to promote spiritual unity and pilgrimage in the Himalayas. It covers four sacred temples — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath — each dedicated to divine forces of nature and faith. It is believed that completing this yatra helps devotees attain spiritual purification and moksha (salvation).
Today, Char Dham Yatra is one of the most important Hindu pilgrimages in India.
